IT Professionals:
The Western New York technology-focused students are your future employees, co-workers, vendors and business partners. We are confident that you recognize the importance of supplementing their education with real-world experiences. We also understand that you may be unable to provide the actual internships that give students a real-world exposure.

We therefore request that you consider allowing a student or two to shadow you or a member of your IT staff during the winter intersession (January 8th and/or January 9th).

Benefits to the Company:
  • A more educated future talent pool
  • Awareness of your company (which can directly lead to an increase in candidates for future openings)
  • Ability to meet a company's mission to contribute to the benefit of society and take an active role in improving our community

    Benefits to the Professional:
  • The best way to improve your own abilities is to teach them to someone else
  • Obtain objective views and new ideas to solve problems
  • Personal satisfaction of making a difference in a student's professional development

    Students:
  • We applaud you for taking the initiative to learn about your future career options

    Benefits to the Student:
  • Understanding of how their coursework connects to real IT solutions in industry
  • View of professional expectations in our business culture
  • Opportunity to impress a potential future interviewer

As you request a shadow opportunity, please understand that many other students are doing the same and we will communicate with you as soon as possible about the availability of your shadow day. Keep your mind open to possibilities! Once you are approved to one of the shadow opportunities, more logistical information will be provided (i.e. contact information and a guide for that day).

    IMPORTANT DATES
  • IT Professionals must sign up before December 19th
  • Students can request shadowing opportunities begining December 10th and until the opportunities are all assigned.
  • Matches will be made throughout the process after December 10th and students will be contacted via email with confirmation of their shadowing assignment
  • Expect the assignment process to take several days as IT Professionals may want to review resumes before making selections
  • Late registrations may be accepted on a case-by-case basis upon additional openings
